Convection Steam Ovens
I keep hearing so many people raving about convection steam ovens. My friend has had one for over a year now and says she wish she had it before her big renovation as she would have done away with having a microwave. I don’t use a microwave often, however, I cannot imagine not having one. How could this oven replace a microwave?
Better than a Microwave
Well, she reheated an old ham, egg and cheese on an English muffin just to show me how exceptional her convection steam oven is over any microwave. The sandwich was hard, and, unappetizing; anyone else would have thrown it out! However, the results blew my mind! That hard, old breakfast sandwich that needed to be in the trash, was brought back to life in way I would have never imagined. It tasted so good, so fresh, she even said it was better than the first day it was brought home. What kind of machine is this, I wondered? If I did not see her put that sandwich in, I would not have believed it was the same sandwich!
Although, microwaves are intended to reheat food quickly, the results are from time to time not to appetizing. With a convection steam oven, the results are absolutely amazing, as it allows you to reheat food without drying it out, not as quick as a 30 sec nuke, but 5 to 8 minutes for that sandwich on a low steam setting was all it took, not too bad for time.
Convection Steam Ovens
These ovens combine convection and steam cooking. Why do you need both? There are numerous benefits coming from each element. Convection ovens cook quicker than traditional ovens, which means faster food to the table. It also keeps the moisture in better than traditional ovens and cooks much more evenly. Steam ovens retain more of the nutrients in your food, retaining color better, and eliminating the need for oil. They have the ability to not only steam, but to bake, brown, roast, grill, defrost, and warm up leftovers. I would recommend a convection steam oven over steam only. The convection version gives you far more usability because it will function as a steam-only; combination/convection steam; and regular convection.
My friend’s yearlong rave about her convection steam oven has me sold. I am remodeling my kitchen this year and have already picked out the Thermador Professional Convection Steam Oven. It has the largest capacity and the only option for replacing a traditional 30″ oven. I will not be able to have a direct water line. and this model uses a water reservoir which makes it an option for me. I love the fast preheat in the luxury segment (around 7 minutes). Not only that, but I am that lady who needs the 41 Easy Cook Programs! I’m also considering the Wolf M Series Contemporary Convection Steam Oven. It has similar features, and looks stunning. Thanks to my good friend who was my BETA tester for this product, I know it is everything it claims and more. I cannot wait to prepare my holiday meals this year!
